Tak Wah Park
Tak Wah Park, the full name is the Jockey Club Tak Wah Park,
is a Chinese-style garden park in Hong Kong. It is located
at the old site of Hoi Pa Village in the center of Tsuen
Wan. It was built under the auspices of the Hong Kong Jockey
Club. Take the subway to Exit B2 of Tsuen Wan Station and
walk along Chung On Street for six minutes. |
At the main entrance of Tak Wah
Park, there are rows of stone lions of various shapes. |

The pond in the center and the
surrounding Chinese-style buildings make Tak Wah Park a
popular location for shooting Historical drama. |
Chan Yi Cheung Ancestral Hall was
once old site of Hoi Pa Village and Hakka mixed-lineage
village, over a hundred years ago. The village was then
developed into a park in the 1980s, retaining only the Old
House, the Chan Yi Cheung Ancestral Hall and village house.
The Old house became a decalred monument in 1986. It was
built with tammed earth, green bricks, green tiles and
timber, which was exemplary of the traditional southern
Chinese village architecture. The park is intentionally
designed in Chinese style to match with the historic
buildings. |

As a Chinese-style garden,
Tak Wah Park is located in the city center, with convenient
transportation and close to large shopping malls and
markets, so it has become one of the resting places for
nearby residents.
